You don't hunt squirrel over bait. Unless you only want one or two.





You will never fill a tag sitting over bait. When the lead starts flying the squirrels start running.





Hunting deer over bait is different, usually you only take one deer at a day. Squirrel you are allowed 8 daily in my home state.





Just head out in the woods, walk slow and listen for leaves shaking or cracked nuts falling, or squirrels barking. Watch the trees. Stop and listen, sit a while. Enjoy the outdoors.Squirrel hunting tips?
Bait? Squirrels? Just go into the woods, locate a few nests and have a seat against a tree and wait. Just be quiet and don't move. If no squirrels are seen within a half hour, get up and move to a different spot. Also, it helps to have two people when hunting squirrels. Squirrels will always be on the opposite side of the tree that you are on (if you chase on up a tree). If you have two people, one person on each side of the tree, the squirrel doesn't have a chance. Squirrels often like to hide in the crotches of trees when being pursued, so once again, just sit and wait. The squirrel will come out when it thinks it's safe.
Bait?...I've never use bait. You just keep your eyes open...look for nests, den trees, food and water sources. Plan yourself down and wait...the predawn time is the best to get set up.

Great way to get em' is if they're raiding your birdfeeder though...
Most places that I know of it's not legal to bait small game animals. If it is legal in your area corn and or apples should work very well.
