Can a half breed lab be trained to squirrel hunt and do well?

well im young so of course so i dont have the money to buy a fiest or a good squirrel hunting dog but i do have a half breed lab that attacked a half dead squirrel i shot one day and seemed very anxious for me to finish him when he chased him back up the tree so i got the idea y not train him!!

so if u can help with training tips or if u think he wont work then let me know

ps.what about coon huntingCan a half breed lab be trained to squirrel hunt and do well?
well labs are gun dogs, train it to be at your side when you shoot, then send him to ';retrive'; it, once he has returned tell him to drop it. If you want him to Track them thats harder. Proberably best way is to get a dead squirrel, drag along ground so it leaves a scent trail and hide it up a tree and try to get your lab to ';track'; the scent.

When ever your dog does what you want remeber lots of praise =]Can a half breed lab be trained to squirrel hunt and do well?
A lab is a retriever so its possible. I not into hunting so I'm not real sure if he will retrieve the little critters dead or alive. His prey drive might be a problem.

Oh don't tell him his a half-breed just tell him he is a coon hound
Absolutely. Labs and lab mixes are usually very smart and trainable. They could be taught to hunt down just about anything.
Yes, your dog is telling you that he/she wants to hunt buy attaching the dead squirrel.

Labs are a very diverse breed even when mixed. Good luck and have fun
sure, a half breed is as good as or better then a pure breed.

just train him well.

but i dont agree with you hunting :P
Why are you murdering poor squirrels???
