If it is a recurve than yes and if it is a compound bow yes. If it is a compound bow you could kill a rabbit with it at ten pounds. My neighbors son shoots rabbit with his 10 pound bow and he is 8.How many pounds draw weight do you need to hunt squirrels and rabbits with a bow?
A 25-lb draw is plenty, as long as the arrow hits the right spot on the rabbit/squirrel. Use a blunt made for small game animals, and you shouldn't have any problems -- as long as the arrow hits the right spot on the rabbit/squirrel. (the ';right spot'; is usually the head, but a good and solid body hit can also work)

The Ace Hex-head(tm) is a very good choice; heavy, and it ';grabs'; whatever it hits -- yet it bounces off trees easily. I have also had good results with both the HTM rubber blunt and home-made blunts.

By the way, if your 45-lb draw bow has an arrow shelf, that can be easily used as the arrow rest. So can your hand; just tilt the bow a bit sideways, so the arrow sits in the ';V'; where your hand and the bow meet (if the bow has no shelf; if it does have a shelf, tilt the bow anyway). See the ';avatars'; in the following profiles for what I mean about tilting the bow:

Twenty-five lbs. should be enough for both if you are close enough or if you get a lucky shot in the head. You don't want too many lbs. or when you get a squirrel it will get stuck in the tree.
* You can get by with a 25, but a 35 is the Best Choice.*
That is sufficient. Take head shots when possible. Also, use a blunt tip head.
25-30 is the perfect weight....because the arrow won't get stuck in a tree or get burried in the ground.
