Does anyone have a jack russel/rat terrier mix that squirrel hunts?

Rat T. were bred t TREE squirrel...locate %26amp; TREE=stand at tree %26amp; BARK! until the gun is used. That's how one squirrel-hunts. NOT friggin' ';catch'; the tree rat!.

I know plenty of folks who do.

JRT were %26amp; ARE breed to work FORMIDABLE quarry IN-GROUND! NOT ';run %26amp; stick their head in a hole';!!!

GET right up to quarry %26amp; WORK it! BAY/BOLT or dispatch!.

Know plenty of real terrier-people! DO hunt/work MY terriers(NOT JRT).Does anyone have a jack russel/rat terrier mix that squirrel hunts?
Jack Russels can hunt squirrels, but they were actually bred to run into foxholes or rabbitholes. They run in, or stick thier head in, and scare the fox or rabbit out, so the hunter can shoot it. Most squirrels will head straight for the trees when they see a dog.

But they are very fast. I believe in an area without any trees near, they'd be fast enough to catch the squirrel.

I have a Jack Russel who always bolts after them, but has never caught one before it got to a tree. She has a very high prey drive for squirrels, but not for other animals. There was a wounded bird flapping on the ground right in front of her. She did nothing.

So in an open area, they will catch them. Other than that, they're not going to help.

But they are extremely smart, so you could probably teach them to track.
