What is small game? ( i got a squirrel gun and a 270 win i can hunt with?

the squirrel gun is a 22 i think


i got my hunting license and it says i can hunt small game until march 31 2009 and i wanted to go turkey hunting is that small game??

yes the 'squirrel gun' is probably a 22LR and a MUCH better choice for small game than a 270 winchester.





Turkey are NOT considered small game





rabbits, squirrels, raccoon, possum, those are all small game





birds like pheasant and quail are considered 'upland birds' and will require an additional stamp to hunt, normally with a 12 guage





birds like ducks and geese are considered 'migratory waterfowl' and will require a 'duckstamp' to hunt normally with a 12 gauge





NOTE, you may get a small game license that is good all year round, however, certain species are usually only allowed to be hunted during different seasons.





For instance, here in MN if you have a small game license you can hunt rabbits from mid september to mid febuary, and the same small game license allows you to hunt racoons from mid october to mid march. You couldn't hunt rabbits in july, even though you have a small game license.





Also, here in MN we have a combo small game and furbearer license, which allows you to hunt beaver, bobcat, and fox as well as the traditional small game animalsWhat is small game? ( i got a squirrel gun and a 270 win i can hunt with?
Sounds like you better go to hunter education class before you do any hunting.


It is required in every state I am sure.


If you do have a small game license and have passed hunter course,


then make sure you are familiar with what you can hunt and when before you go.

be careful, there could be a different lisence for birds and small game. check with your local DOW or go to any retailer that sells the lisences, they should have a brochur that will tell you the diffenrent laws.
go for pheasants. they are birds. and you could sell each of them for probably 100$ each becuz the feathers of it are used to make flies for fishing, but im not sure if its illegal to sell them.and how old r u?
