I am a new hunter and want to know how to prepare a squirrel to eat after I hunt one.?

I am a new hunter and dont know how to prepare a freshly hunted squirrel to eat. I use a .177 rifleI am a new hunter and want to know how to prepare a squirrel to eat after I hunt one.?
I take squirrels and skin them out, take off their heads, tails, and feet then rub them with some olive oil and sprinkle on a seasoning mix of lemon pepper, garlic powder, black pepper and brown sugar. Place on a hot grill and rotate them after 7- 9 minutes depending on the size and how hot the coals are. To check if there done I take a sharp knife and split the 'thigh' and look for blood. Kind of looking for the same texture as a chicken thigh.I am a new hunter and want to know how to prepare a squirrel to eat after I hunt one.?
Most of the above. To skin: Pinch the hair on the back and make a cut from side to side in fur and skin only. Insert first two fingers of both hands and pull in opposite directions. Push legs through until the joint just above the foot is reached. Break bone at joint, cut and remove feet. Remove head and hide. Carefully, don't cut the inside stomach pouches, slice skin of belly up through breast bone opening the cavity. Grab inside neck (top) and pull out everything inside. Rinse in water.

The sooner you do this the easier it is. The skin gets more difficult the longer you wait.

Cut up by removing each leg and then cut the back at the bottom of the ribs. Toss the ribs, they aren't worth messing with. Soak in salt water in the refrigerator over night then cook.

Hope this helps.
Dave S has it right. But with that much power, only use head shots, or gut juice will spoil the taste. A good 3X9 scope turned up as far as practical for the shot will help. Also, boil the carcase for at least 10 minutes to kill all pathogens, which may include Bubonic plague. Then flour (unbleached) and fry, or whatever. And keep some tetracycline in the first aid kit in case you nick yourself during the cleaning and get infected. Also, shake off all the fleas a long ways from your camp. Oh, when you referred to 17 cal, if that is an air rifle, it's definitely head shots, as body hits with an air rifle might mean a long bloodless trail to follow hoping for followup shots! Silly me, I initially thought you meant one of the new 17 Cal firearms!
I, don't know for sure, but after hunting a squirrel, i would suggest that you KILL said squirrel, before trying to eat it.

That being said, a .177, is a poor choice for consistantly clean kills on squirles, as the .177 will more times than not, only wound the animal.
Skin the squirrel. Remove the guts, feet, head and tail. Cut it up roll in flour with a little salt and black pepper. Fry it like chicken, serve with biscuits and gravy. Breakfast of champions.
Wow I am not sure if that is enough gun for squirrel huntng. If you do get one skin it and fry it up they taste great.
