The time of day isn't really important, it's the location, and the weather. Too hot or too cold and they'll be staying inside their nests. Wind also plays a major part, if it's too windy they'll be more on the ground, less in the limbs where they normally romp. Where I live we can hunt them year round, but I prefer autumn and winter, so there's no little ones dependent on parents. A bright, cool day, with little or no wind, in or near a feeding ground such as oak, pecan, persimmon, hedge apple, etc. with a spot to sit and watch can bring in two or three squirrels. Moving from place to place every couple of hours will help too, keeps them stirred up and watching. They're curious by nature, but also shy. Sitting still and watching will lure them onto limbs so they can see who's invading their territory.
hunt near food sources such a oak trees that give acorns. Pines are also a good food for these guys. Get out early in the morning say just past sunrise, look for lots of leaves that seem stuck in tree, that's what their nest look like. DON'T SHOOT THE NEST, but they hang around home most of the time. You can also look near clearings or fallen trees that will act as sort of a playground for them, and listen because they can be quiet loud. Another good sign is dirt kicked up in little divots.
Morning they move to feed after sun up.


If he is in a tree he may circle the tree to keep it between you and him just throw your hat up on the other side of the trunk and he will run to your side.
Try feeding them every day in the same spot for about a year or so. They come out a few hours after dawn to feed and there nest are quite big and made up of twigs built high in the trees.
Rub your body with peanut butter and throw peanuts around and wait till they all flock to you.


When they become less cautious you should jump on them like a wild tiger grabbing by their tails and bite them in the throat.
Go sit on a deer stand in blaze orange. They will be everywhere. Running around making it as hard as possible to hear deer coming your way.
just sit in the woods and wait. If you kill on and cut it open, it will attract many more. Its unbelievable.
i agree with all the while hunting deer (seums) but here is a little trick i use,, as follows,,,,i wait until thee are 2-4 in range and dont shoot the first one you see,,,, then shoot them all works
Pretend your hunting deer you will see a bunch, and Vi's verse if you want to see deer!
just sit in some hardwoods around 4-6 pm and just be ready for them to come out of the wood works!
