Hunting a squirrel and eating it ?

when you shoot a squirrel with a airgun using lead pellets how do you eat the squirrel after you take the pellet out, do you just clean that area or does it go away when you grill it (i mean the lead left over from the shot)Hunting a squirrel and eating it ?
Take the pellet out and cut off meat that has lead on it. I don't think many doctors recommend eating it, unless they are looking for job security.Hunting a squirrel and eating it ?
i think you'll have 2 take it out
the shot should usally go all the way though it unless your using a very low powered airgun
there is really no lead left in the carcass. just remove any pellet that remains, and then cook it. My favorite receipe for squirrel is still ';shake and bake'; original receipe.

shoot safe
the lead does not go away. you have to pick all of the pellets out. once your sure its all out then clean it and grill it or cut up the meat and add it to a stew recipe.
lead usually won't break off a pellet since it moves at such a lower velocity, so your fine, damn those squirrels are tasty.
cut out the meat around the pellets path
No matter the projectile or the game, any pieces should be removed, and all the torn and blood-shot meat removed. That's how you assure quality game as food.

So, yes, remove all the lead from the pellet. And trim away any damaged flesh as well.

Obviously, this will be less of a problem with an air-gun pellet than from a bullet. But it's a job worth doing.
