Is it legal to hunting squirrel, starlings, sparrows, and all the other pest birds with an airgun in newjersey?

It might be a good idea to visit your states game and fish dept. website or a local sporting goods store and pick up a copy of the hunting regulations. As others have stated song birds are protected, and most any game bird will have a specific season. For the sake of argument, let's say you are licensed and shoot a dove in season, then you'd also have to make sure they were legal to take with an air rifle. I don't think its allowed. Is it legal to hunting squirrel, starlings, sparrows, and all the other pest birds with an airgun in newjersey?
1st. check with your local law enforcement as to laws and regulations to using an airgun in your area. 2nd.pass a hunter safety course and get a hunting license and learn those laws and regulations. starling and english sparrows are non-native animals and can be shot at any time, as long as it is legal to shoot there, squirrels are not! learn the rules for your area and happy hunting! hope this helps. Is it legal to hunting squirrel, starlings, sparrows, and all the other pest birds with an airgun in newjersey?
first..contact your local borough or township to see what laws you have about discharging or possession of a weapon you have locally

Second...NJ should have a state game commission or Department of Natural Resources... they can tell you what seasons and restrictions there are in your state.

You should be able to obtain State licence and season information at any sporting goods or gun store or on-line at your state website.

If you lived in about any of 46 other states your situation would be simple.

It looks like, at least for squirrel that you have to have a rifle permit and use at least a .22 rimfire.

NJ has the toughest restrictions on airgun ownership in the country.
Sorry there Bud all song birds are Federally protected. Federal means big hurt if you get caught. You would be dealing with the fed`s on this one kind of like Eagles. Please don`t get the anti s going. Hunt legally.
It would be completely illegal and can get you fined and jail time for illegally hunting..../
Absolutely, it is illegal.
