I have an older Pumpmaster that's more toned down than yours, and I've gotten some pidgeons with it. Go to a Wal-Mart and get the pest control ammo, the spiked pellets kind works great. Never tried the mushroom trips. With regular BBs shooting the wings of the pidgeon, it just bounced off.
As a side note, I actually live only a few minutes from Crosman Arms here in NY, I'll be leaving work soon to go home and will drive right by it...Is my powermaster 66 good for squirrel hunting?
The Crosman Powermaster 66 ';claims'; a maximum MV of 645fps with pellets. The claim is 690fps with 5.1gr BBs.
645fps is going to be with very light weight pellets.
You will probably get around 550fps with average weight(7.9gr-8.3gr) pellets
IMO it takes ';around'; 6.0fpe ';at impact'; with proper shot placement and hunting pellets for a clean, humane kill on small game(rabbit, squirrel, etc)
575fps - 8.2gr pellets = 6.02fpe
You really need a more powerful air rifle if you want to do any small game hunting.
The Crosman 2100(2104X) can take small game out to around 15 yards.
An air rifle such as the Crosman Quest 1000X can take small game at 45 yards or so, if you can make the shot(head)Is my powermaster 66 good for squirrel hunting?
Nope. You aren't going to be making clean kills with your airgun, and its pretty sad when you cant make a clean kill on a squirrel. I suggest a 20 guage, or a .22lr
Make sure its squirrel season, its closed most places this time of year. Are you eating the squirrel?
You better be eating them after you kill them.. if your just killing them for fun your evil :D How would you like me to sit on a top of a building and snip you for fun huh?
if you kill it you better eat it, if your not going to eat it don't kill it!
