I want a golden retriever for a squirrel hunting dog, i have had one before but not for hunting though...?

A labrador is a better hunting dog than a golden retriever.





Make sure that you keep up on all vaccinations as small wild animals often have rabies and other diseases.
Not suitable for squirrel hunting, they would only do it to please you. They are also quite intelligent and lazy, so you might have a problem with that, if you're competitive.


Terriers, or spaniels are better for your purposes.

I would get a black lab. My family has had them for years. i don't care for golden retrievers. They are not as smart as labs.
Rat terrier/beagle dogs are the best squirrel hunting dogs. They are easy to train and faster than a speeding bullet. My dad likes to squirrel hunt and those are the only dogs I know of that he's used.
