Need tips for squirrel hunting;just got a 1000 fps pellet gun gonna try it out...need some tips?

i am going in a field with a little bit of woods on the side need some tips on how to find the squirrels?Need tips for squirrel hunting;just got a 1000 fps pellet gun gonna try it out...need some tips?
As a kid I used to ';click'; 2 fifty cent pieces together to imitate a squirrel. I'm not really sure how effective it really was. But as 10 year old with camo and pellet gun, it really didn't matter.

I think your best best is to find a woodlot with some mature oaks that produce a food source for the squirrels. As someone else said, it is important to sit tight and don't move around a lot. Give it some time and you will start to see squirrel. Good luck and enjoy the rest of nature as well. Hopefully your next question will be ';I need some tips for cooking squirrel';Need tips for squirrel hunting;just got a 1000 fps pellet gun gonna try it out...need some tips?
First of all a 1000 fps pellet gun will do the trick. Find a woodlot where there is some mast crop (look for acorns preferably) Sit as quietly as you can and after about 20 minutes the squirrels should come back out. Try to wait for a good head shot. If you have a squirrel treed and he is hiding on the opposite side of the tree, then take your coat off and hang it on a branch. Then slowly work your way around to the other side of the tree. The squirrel will think your coat is another person and it will come back around for a shot. Good luck.
use a .22 with a good scope and shoot them in the head, don't torture them with a pellet gun.
Not as easy as you think. A 1000 fps sound a lot but i can assure you it's not. Firstly you would need to have the correct pellets, otherwise you wasting you're time. Secondly you pellet gun needs to be set in correctly otherwise you are also wasting you're time. Thirdly you would need to get very close to the squirrels, squirrels are protected by a thick layer of fur and a pellet will not penetrate easy. You will properly end up wounding more than what you will kill.
I love squirrel hunting with my crossman 1000x first off if it is a break barrel type gun lose the scope, the barrel never returns to the exact same spot. Now with open sights and hunting pellets aim for the head. With that being said I find way more squirrels in douglas fir trees than in oak groves. This time of year they tear off the pine cones and throw them on the ground to eat later. So look for Doug fir with green cones on the ground around it. You will probably see cones that have been eaten and cones that have not. Green cones do not fall out of trees on there own so if there are green cones on the ground there are squirrels in the tree. Sit still about 10 minutes and they will come back out. Also they make calls that are effective. The trick is to make sounds like a baby squirrel being eaten. They will come to see whats up. Good luck and happy hunting. Also I must add in most states a license is required and squirrel taste great!
Also sometimes you can just walk up and if your quick and accurate get a few squirrels anywhere. At my parents house and some other properties I frequent the squirrels aren't bothered by anyone until the season comes around here in VA to hunt them. A lot of times I can get with in 20-15 feet of squirrels with out them even worrying about me. I haven't hunted them here but if you can bait use some corn on the cob or plain bird seed. Put it in a pile here and there sit behind a bush or fallen tree limb and dinner will come to you.
throw bread on the ground

wait

then shoot.
I guess the best thing to do is stay still and quiet near a tree. They're always out. Don't kill 'em unless you eat 'em though.
1. Practice.....alot. Punch lots of paper with your pellet gun, Bullet placement is crucial.

2. Find an area where they are feeding (oaks, hickory, etc.) and then have a seat and wait.

3. Bring a 3-5 length stick with you to use as a rest. It much easier to hit a target that way.

4. After the kill, skin the squirrel, and fix with your favorite recipe. I like to quarter mine and fry just like chicken.
Why dont you try the gun out by shooting your self in the face....
